At Interamerican, our students and teachers participate in age and stage appropriate activities designed to promote conversation, physical, intellectual and social-emotional development. We have employment opportunities for teachers in both preschool ages (toddlers through 4 years) and elementary school (kindergarten and 1st grade).

Staff are supported by an Instructional Director, Operations Director and the owners. A wide variety of supports are available to help teachers and employees continue their own professional development and instructional learning.

Assistant teachers should already have completed the DCF 45-hours and 5-hours in Early Literacy.

Preschool Lead teachers must have a minimum of a Staff Credential (FCCPC, National CDA or education in ECE).

JOB DESCRIPTION

Summary

To create a flexible elementary class environment favorable to learning and personal growth; to establish effective rapport with students; to motivate students to develop skills, attitudes and knowledge needed to provide a good foundation for upper elementary grade education in accordance with each student’s ability; to establish good relationships with parents and other staff members.

Responsibilities

  • Teaches reading, language arts, social studies, mathematics, science, art, and physical education to students in a classroom, 

  • Develops lesson plans and instructional materials and provides individualized and small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each student.

  • Establishes and maintains a classroom environment that is conducive to learning

  • Use technology to support and expand student learning

  • Evaluates students’ academic and social growth, keeps appropriate records, and prepares progress reports.

  • Communicates with parents through conferences and other means to discuss students’ progress and interpret the school program.

  • Creates an effective environment for learning through functional and attractive displays, bulletin boards, and interest centers.

  • Maintains professional competence through in-service education activities provided by professional growth activities.

  • Administers group tests 

  • Participates in curriculum development programs as required.

  • Participates in staff meetings.

  • Bachelor’s degree from accredited university

  • Florida teaching certificate
