How we are responding to COVID-19

Our school WILL BE OPEN for pre-school children ages 1-4 and for school age children we will have a full day camp where they can work on home-work as well as planned activities. Our Kindergarten and VPK programs will be suspended, following the Miami-Dade Public School closure.

Our community, our city and even our world is experiencing a difficult time adjusting to the COVID-19 virus.  Businesses of all types are having to make challenging decisions as to how to best serve their clients yet maintain public safety.  At Interamerican Learning Center we have decided that the community needs our service during this time.  Closing at this time will be one more economic obstacle for our community during an already difficult time.  Parents need to work and they need a safe place for their children to be cared for.

During this season, our aim is to continue to be a safe learning environment for your children where they will be cared for and loved.

New Policies

The school will be strictly following the guidance of Miami-Dade County for group size. Each classroom can only have 9 children and 1 teacher. So space is VERY LIMITED. Parents MUST NOTIFY the office that they are returning, and tuition must be paid the Friday before each week.

The school will be strictly following the guidance of the CDC for child care centers that remain open. You can refer to that guidance HERE

  • Parents will drop off children at front office and they will NOT escort children inside.  No parents will enter the school beyond the front office safety door for any reason.

  • We will have a dedicated staff member just for handwashing on the way in.  All children will wash their hands on the way in.  No exceptions.

  • All children will have their temperature taken before being taken into the school. Any person with a temperature over 100.4 may not attend.

  • Signs of sickness will be closely monitored. Children with cough, colored mucous, or other signs that they are unwell may be asked to go home until they are well.

  • We will have a dedicated staff member just for escorting children back and forth from the front entrance to their classrooms.

  • Classrooms and toys will receive extra disinfection between activities. We will be following additional cleaning routine and schedules recommended by the CDC - you can view it HERE

  • All communication with teachers will be done through front office or through the Brightwheel app.

Pre-school ages 1-4

The school WILL BE OPEN for preschool children ages 1-4 as following the additional guidance referenced above. However, space is limited - so confirm your return with the office.

Kinder & VPK

Kindergarten and VPK classes are SUSPENDED for the rest of the school year. The last day of school is June 3, 2020. This is in keeping with the decision made by Miami-Dade Public Schools and the department of education.  Children will be sent homework packets and be in communication with their teachers for learning opportunities at home. Parents should be in contact with the school on Brightwheel and the Home Learning section of the website.

School Age 5-10

The school WILL BE OPEN for school-age children whose parents have to go to work and have no place to leave their child.  The cost for this service is the same as summer camp.  It is a non-school calendar service.  If the children have homework packets or assigned work from their regular school, they will have an opportunity to do that at our center with help from our staff.  Parents can send laptops or other devices for their child to complete their work. There will also be play and game activities throughout the day.

Food

Breakfast, lunch and snack will be provided as normal following our USDA approved menu.
